Woordenboek strategieën 

1               Gebruik je woordenboek alleen als het echt nodig is.

Woorden opzoeken kost veel tijd, dus beslis eerst of je het woord wel echt nodig hebt voor het beantwoorden van de vraag. In de volgende gevallen is het slim om je woordenboek te gebruiken:

– Wanneer je een woord in de vraag of in de antwoordmogelijkheden niet kent. Het is belangrijk dat je goed leest en begrijpt wat er staat, omdat je anders belangrijke informatie kunt missen.

– In de vraag wordt vaak verwezen naar de alinea of de zin waar het antwoord in staat. Zoek de woorden die je nodig hebt om die zin of alinea te begrijpen op in je woordenboek.

2              Zoek naar de basisvorm van een woord.

Om een woord in het woordenboek te kunnen opzoeken, moet je weten wat voor woordsoort het is en wat de basisvorm van het woord is. Bij een werkwoord dat vervoegd is, zoek je het hele werkwoord op. Bij een zelfstandig naamwoord zoek je het enkelvoud op.

3                Lees alle mogelijke betekenissen van een woord.

Veel woorden hebben meerdere betekenissen. De eerste betekenis die in het woordenboek vermeld staat, is niet altijd de betekenis die jij zoekt. De voorbeeldzinnen die erbij staan, helpen je om te bepalen welke vertaling het meest passend is.
