Present continuous 

When do we use the pc?

• something is happening now
• when someone is doing something right now

I am explaining the present continuous.  

You are making notes.  

She is listening to the teacher.  

Present continuous 

Form:

1. form of 'to be': am / are / is

2. verb

3. + -ing

I am doing the dishes right now.

My parents are watching TV.

Verkorte vorm: I'm doing / She's listening / We're watching

Present continuous 

Rules:

• When the verb ends with an -e, you have to remove the -e 

(to have)     I am having lunch.

(to give)   He is giving us homework.

• Verb with a short vowel (a, e, i, o, u), -> double consonant 

(to put)     We are putting sugar in his tea.

(to run)   She is running a marathon.
