For promises, threats, offers and requests.
I promise I will pay the money back.
If you tell anyone, I will kill you.
I will meet you at the station if you want.

Modal verbs instead of 'will'
'might, could, should, would' can be used to talk about the future. The prediction is often more uncertain then.
I suppose he might win the race, but it seems unlikely.
The weather could be better tomorrow.
We should be able to afford it if we save up.
They should probably agree if you asked them.
