1 Present Simple : base form except for third person singular (shit-s) 

I eat, she eats

2 Present Continuous present form of to be + ing-form 

We are eating

Questions and negations
Making of questions and negations:
 You’ll need an auxiliary.
Present Continuous already has one: the form of to be 
Are you eating?

Present Simple: the auxiliary do, does or don’t, doesn’t is introduced: Does she eat?

The general idea of a continuous tense is that it puts 
emphasis on the action itself.

1 Things which are happening at the moment of speaking:

The water is boiling now, so you can put in the pasta.

Temporary situations
Temporary situations:
Julie is living in Paris for a few months (usually she lives in London).
Situations which are slowly changing:
I'm getting better and better at speaking English.

Temporary or new habits
I'm drinking too much coffee these days because I'm so busy at work.

Annoying habits (usually with 'always'):
My flatmate is always leaving the kitchen in a mess!

Permanent situations (or nearly permanent; true for a few years at least):

Habits or things we do regularly
I drink coffee every morning.

stative verbs
Some verbs really don’t make sense in PC because these verbs often describe states that last for some time. We call them stative verbs. Here is an example in Dutch first:

Ik vind rood een mooie kleur.
Ik ben rood een mooie kleur aan het vinden
