If verb ends in consonant + -y, take off -y, and add -ied ---> (married)
If verb ends in vowel + -y , add -ed ---> (played)
If verb ends in vowel + consonant, add consonant + -ed ----> (stopped) 
If verb ends in -e, add only -d  ---> (lived)
