Step 4: A legend
To make your map easier to understand, you need to create a legend. A legend is like a "key" or a guide that explains the meaning of the symbols, colors, and shapes you use on your map. It helps others understand what the map is showing without confusion.

Slide 14 - Tekstslide

1. Think About Your Symbols
  • A symbol can be a small picture, shape, or icon that represents something.
2. Choose Colors Carefully.
  • Colors can help make your map easier to read and more attractive.
3. Organize Your Legend Clearly
  • List all the symbols and colors in a box or a small section of your map.

4. Use clear and simple drawings/ symbols.
  • Don’t include too many items. Only add the most important symbols needed to understand the map.
5. Make a Draft First
  • Show your draft to someone else to see if they can understand your legend.
6. Improve Your Draft
  • After getting feedback, make changes to improve your legend.
Step 4: Become a legend!

Step 5: Images
To make your sketch map more engaging and easier to understand, you should look for images that match your map's style and purpose. These images can represent features like buildings, landmarks, or natural areas. However, you must choose the right type of images to make your map look professional and clear.

Slide 16 - Tekstslide

1. Think About What You Need

  • Decide what kind of images you want to add to your sketch map.
2. Match the Size to Your Map
  • The images you choose must fit well with your map’s scale and design.
3. Choose High-Quality Images (Resolution)
  • Avoid stretching or resizing images too much, as this can lower their quality.
4. Adapt the Images if Necessary
  • After choosing your images, you might need to edit them slightly to match your map.

5. Test the Placement
  • Place the images on your draft sketch map to see how they look.
6. Ask for Feedback
  • Ask if the images help explain the map or if anything could be improved.
7. Save them
  • Once you are happy with your images, securely safe them somewhere.
Step 5: Images

Slide 17 - Tekstslide

1. Approval
  • Ensure your sketch is checked and approved. Apply any feedback before starting.
2. Use the A3 Map
  • Transfer your sketch to the provided A3 world map, or print your sketch map on A3 if it’s on a different map.

3. Name it all
  • Name everything clearly; including topographical indications, main trading posts, cities and oceans.
4. Follow Criteria
  • Use the checklist in your reader to confirm you’ve included everything required.
5. Review and Submit
  • Check your work for mistakes and add final touches.
Step 6: The final croquis!
Once your sketch is approved, and you have clear images and a complete legend, you can start your final version on the A3 world map I’ll provide.

Slide 18 - Tekstslide

1. Explain Connections
  • Highlight any relationships you show on the map. For instance, what does the prosperity of certain countries tell us?

No chatgpt please!

2. Keep It Clear and Concise
Write in simple, clear sentences that anyone can understand. Focus on key points, not unnecessary details.

3. Attach your explanation neatly to the map. This will show your understanding of the topic and the purpose of your map! 😊
Step 7: A statement
After completing your final croquis, write an explanation (100-150 words) to attach to your map. This explanation should focus on the choices you made and how the elements on your map are connected.

Slide 19 - Tekstslide

Step 8: Check your work
  1. Open and read the rubric carefully

  2. Write down any areas where you think your map needs improvement.

  3. Make adjustments to fix those areas before submitting.
