A
Making food
B
Storing food
C
Taking up water
D
Anchoring the plant

Slide 4 - Quizvraag

You have found that cells from the eye of an organism have 36 chromosomes in their nuclei.
How much chromosomes do you expect to find in a cell of this organisms feet?
A
less
B
more
C
the same amount
D
It's impossible to tell

Slide 5 - Quizvraag

What part of a cell stores water?
A
Cytoplasm
B
Nucleus
C

D
Cell membrane

Slide 6 - Quizvraag

Cell division
Cell division is happening constantly in your body:
  • 3,5 kg of new skin cells every year
  • 200.000.000.000 new blood cells every day
Cells also die a lot!
  • More new cells than dying cells = growth

Slide 7 - Tekstslide

Cell cycle
parent cell
daughter cell
daughter cell
DNA is copied, which results in 2 nuclei both containing 46 chromosomes = division of nucleus
1
Cell division starts by creating a cell membrane in the middle of the parent cell, once this is done the new cells separate
2
2 daughter cells are formed, plasma growth adds cytoplasm making the cells the same size as the parent cell

Slide 8 - Tekstslide

After cell division
  • 1 daughter cell > specialized cell > heart cell, muscle cell, blood cell, etc.
  • 1 daughter cell > stem cell > parent cell
  • Stem cells can divide into new cells
  • Stem cells don't specialize
skin cells
nerve cell
blood cells
stem cell

Slide 9 - Tekstslide

A human stem cell divides.
This creates daughter cells: cell A and cell B.
How many chromosomes are in cell A? (only use numbers)

Slide 10 - Open vraag

Cell A is a stem cell.
Cell A divides into cell B and C.
Cell B becomes a liver cell.
What happens to cell C?
A
Becomes a liver cell
B
Becomes a body cell
C
Becomes a stem cell
D
Impossible to tell
