Grammar 4: like and as

LIKE / AS

Like en as worden gebruikt om een vergelijking te maken tussen mensen of dingen. 

Like or as

Like gebruik je als het erop lijkt, maar het niet is.

It smells like honey

(het ruikt als honing, maar is géén honing)

As gebruik je als het net zoals iets anders is ( dus gelijk):

Sorry son, AS your dad I cannot approve this (echt jouw vader)

Like:

niet hetzelfde:

You act like a boss

(maar je bent het niet!)

As:

We are celebrating our anniversary, as we did last year 

(hetzelfde als vorig jaar, net zoals vorig jaar).
