Rewards
+1 cm2 cheatsheet = you get to make a cheatsheet for a test. This starts being 1 by 1 cm. Everytime you earn this it gets 1 cm bigger to a max of 4 by 4 cm.
1/3 +0.5 = If you earn this 3 times you get to add 0,5 to one of your biology marks.
Snitch = You can pick a classmate who also is checked for homework, you earn two V's (having 3 earns you a 1/3 +0,5)
Too bad = You only get one V
penalties
45 min extra worktime = you need to come after school and do homework, this will last for 45 min or until the task is done
Coloringpage = You get to pick a coloringpage, You need to color it and perform tasks that might be on it. You need to hand it in during the next lesson, If you don't you get 2 marks.
2/1 marks = a mark is an X, if you get 3 of these you will automaticly earn the 45 min extra worktime.
Snitch = You can pick a classmate who also is checked for homework
Lucky! = You don't get a penalty

Think-Pair-Share
Think: Work on the assignment on your own.
Look at the image of the blood vessels, make a table in which you describe differences that you can see between them
Pair: Discuss and compare with your neighbour, improve your answer
Share: Talk about given answers during plenary session.

Read pages 184, 187 en 188 about the blood vessels.
Add more characteristics to your tabel for each blood vessel
O2, CO2 and other substances are exchanged with tissues
often O2-poor blood, except pulmonary vein
often deeper inside the body
openings between cells in the walls of capillaries allow exchange of substances
often closer to the skin
Substances go in and out of the blood.
In most organs:
O2 and nutrients go out of the capillary, CO2 and waste go in to the capillary.
This means only 1 layer of cells form the wall that surrounds the blood. The wall is extremely thin!
In comparison arteries and veins have a lot more cells, forming many layers that make up their walls.

Slide 17 - Quizvraag
What is the difference between oxygenated and deoxygenated?
Slide 18 - Open vraag
The portal vein is a special case.
It flows from the intestines towards the liver.
In the intestines lots of substances enter the blood (you learned this in U2). Some of the substances might be harmful.
The liver checks the blood for dangerous substances and takes these out.
Clean blood can then flow into you body.
Slide 19 - Tekstslide
Double circulatory system
One complete circuit means that the blood goes through the hart twice.
There are 2 parts:
Pulmonary circulation
Blood goes from the heart to the lungs and back
Systemic circulation
Blood goes from the heart to the other organs and back
pulmonary circulation
Heart > Lungs > Heart
Main job: get rid of CO2 and get O2.
CO2 goes out of your blood into the alveoli, these then let you breathe out the CO2
O2 is inhaled, the alveoli then transfer this O2 to your blood
systemic circulation
Heart > other organs > Heart
Main job: give all cells O2 and nutrients, take away CO2 and waste
A single blood cell only flows through one organ per systemic circulation. (or 2 if it takes the portal vein route!)
Capillaries inside the organs give of O2 en Nutrients which the cells of the organs use to stay alive and respirate.
Cells in the organs give of CO2 (because of respiration) and waste, these substances are absorbed into the capillaries
