Some facts about our universe
Slide 16 - Tekstslide
The earth distance from the sun is called the 'goldilocks zone' — since it's uniquely ideal for life.
All stars that you see in the night sky are other suns.
The sun makes up more than 99% of the mass in our solar system
We call our galaxy 'The milky way galaxy'.
All elements originate from suns. This means, we and everything around us are made of 'star dust'.
Most of the universe is empty space (just like in atoms)
The earth is round, but the universe is actually flat.
Slide 17 - Tekstslide
The observable universe
Slide 18 - Tekstslide
The purpose of science is to investigate the universe so that we can come to understand it.
We can only investigate what we can observe.
We observe the universe through the light that reaches the earth.
If things are so far away that their light can't reach earth we are not able to observe it.
The part of the universe that science can investigate is called —
The observable universe
