Limericks

A five line poem using an AABBA rhyming scheme.

The AABBA means that the first, second and fifth line of the poem rhyme.

The third and fourth sentence, BB, are shorter and rhyme with each other.

Example limerick

An elderly man called Keith.

A: Mislaid his set of false teeth--

B: They'd been laid on a chair,

B: He'd forgot they were there,

A: Sat down, and was bitten beneath.

Another example

I need a front door for my hall

The replacement I bought was too tall.

So I hacked it and chopped it,

And carefully lopped it,

And now the dumb thing is too small.

Limericks are often humorous or crude (grof) and they don't have to make sense.

Now, attempt to make a limerick yourself. Remember, follow the AABBA rhyme scheme or else it won't be a limerick!
