You can explain what consequences the declaration of independence of the Nothern Netherlands had for government and religion 

You can name four developments that can explain why the rebels gradually became stronger 

You can explain how the struggle between the Dutch republic and Spain came to an end.

Independent

1581 the provinces had decided that Phillip was no longer king. 

1588 the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands was formed. 

The Dutch republic had no central government.

You were allowed to believe what you wanted. 

Calvinist had more rights. 

They could hold public services and hold administrative positions

The struggle after 1588 

The four reasons the Dutch got stronger;

1. Trade and industry went up. 

More money = more mercenaries

2. Spain was fighting other wars 

3. Strong allies; France and England.

4. Maurits was a good commander

On the road to peace

After 1600 Spain and the Netherlands were tired of fighting 

A truce was set on 1609 till 1621

Trade and prosperity rose during this time 

After the truce cites of Maastricht and Den Bosch fell to the republic 

1648 The treaty of Munster was signed.

Spain kept the Southern Netherlands 

Spain recognized the Republic as an independent state.
