Strategy:

1) Look at the  verb tense in the question/sentence that has been given.  

If this verb is:

To be (am-are-is -was- were) /can/could/will/would/shall/should/must/may/might/has - have-had + past participle ( 2 or more verbs in sentence):

repeat this verb in the question/affirmative or negative sentence

IF NOT:  use do/does/did  + infinitive of the verb     He lives in Druten. Does he live in Druten?

The question/answer/negative sentence that you need to write needs to be in the same tense as the part that has been given.

Present Simple - 

Form:

Timetables/Programmes/ fixed moment in the future: / The train to Amsterdam leaves from platform 11.  / The show starts at 8 pm. / The school term starts next week.)

Time clauses referring to the future (when/ before/ unless)       (I'll talk to John when he calls me. / You must finish your work before you go home. / He won't come, unless you ask him.)

Verbs related to senses, i.e. see/hear (He hears what he wants to hear.)

Verbs related to preference, i.e. hate/love/like/ agree / disagree (She disagrees with the last statement. / I love that movie!)

Present Continuous

Form:

am/is/are + infinitive + ing (She is dancing)

To talk about something that is happening right now (Please be quiet, the children are sleeping. / I'm listening to music right now.)

To talk about a temporary state (iets is tijdelijk, niet altijd zo)

(She is currently working for  theTrump campaign, but she usually works as a lawyer for State of New York. Michael is at university. He's studying history.)

To talk about something that is developing. (You are getting smarter and smarter!)

To express irritation (You're always  picking on me!  / You're getting on my nerves!) - often with always/constantly

To talk about future plans/ (< week) arrangements                              (I'm taking the car  tomorrow.)
