Meaning: 

To avoid saying what you mean, often because it would be difficult or uncomfortable

Example: 

Don’t beat around the bush. Just tell me why you can’t come to my birthday party on Friday.

• Kijk goed naar eventueel beeld.
• Sprekers herhalen belangrijke informatie vaak met andere woorden. 
• Het voornaamste blijft: concentratie. Laat je niet afleiden!

Waar je op moet letten tijdens het luisteren naar technische instructies:

• Pay close attention to the speaker's gestures - demontstration
• Are there printed instructions? Look closely at the images.
• Words like should and must > advice or an obligation.
• Keep pen and paper to hand so you can take notes.

Waar je op moet letten tijdens het luisteren naar technische instructies:

• If you can't keep up, ask the speaker to give you some time to take notes or pause the instruction video.
  
• Ask the speaker to repeat things you do not understand. Important information is often repeated. 
• The most important thing remains to focus. Do not get                    distracted by things that are happening around you.

• Intensive listening: this is to understand most or all of the details.
  
• Targeted listening: this is to retrieve specific information only.

• Read the stept twice, first you get a general idea, read again to make          sure you didn't misunderstand anything. It's also easier to remember!

Multiple choice

• Lees alleen de vraag.
  
• Ga na waar in de tekst het antwoord op de vraag kan staan.
  
• Lees dat gedeelte van de tekst nauwkeurig door.
  
• Bedenk zelf een antwoord op de vraag.
  
• Lees de meerkeuzevraag en antwoorden nauwkeuriger door.
• Kies het antwoord dat het meest op je eigen antwoord lijkt.
  
• Zoek naar aanwijzingen die je keuze kunnen ondersteunen.
  
• Mocht het zo niet lukken, ga dan wegstrepen.
