Why use reading strategies?

Reading strategies can help you to:

- Improve your reading comprehension skill (better understanding of the text).

- Increase your motivation when reading (if you know what you read, it could be fun).

- Remember the content of a text and recall the information you need.

- Because you probably won't have enough time to read everything in-depth.

Some important reading strategies

1. Predictive reading (voorspellend lezen)
2. Skimming (globaal lezen)
3. Scanning (specifieke woorden zoeken) 
4. Reading in-depth (intensief lezen)
5. Inferring (making an educated guess)

Here’s something to think about the next time you go shopping. Have you ever noticed

how many trolleys are available when you go to the supermarket? In my experience,

it seems like hundreds! But how about the number of hand baskets? 

I struggle to find even one, especially when I only need a few items. Why might this be

the case? Well it seems to be a tactic used to encourage us to buy more. If you are

walking around with an empty trolley, you are more tempted to fill it, so if you a planning

on only doing a quick shop, always try to find a basket. It will be lighter, easier to use

and is sure to save you money!

Why is it a good idea to use a basket instead of a trolley?

1. It is a good idea because a basket is more comfortable than a trolley, and it is so cool when you hold it.
2. It is a good idea because a basket is lighter, easier to use and may even save you money.

Do research what it includes and by which big companies.

What do they sell? How? Where?

Read multiple articles about it and keep a word list on the side.

Lesson 4 - Discussion

Have multiple  one-minute discussions with your peers about the pros and the cons (voor- en nadelen) of this type of e-commerce. 

Write down possible solutions on the cons for your branch and other branches.

Group discussion

What have you learned about different types of branches and companies?

Which one would you preferably choose to work in and why?

Lesson 5 - Summary

Write down your summary of 250-300 words.

What is so interesting about your type of e-commerce? Which big brands are active in it? How do they sell their products? Etc.

Include the words you have written down in your word list.
