Present continuous

Wat is de present continuous?

De present continuous gebruik je om aan te tonen dat iets bezig of gaande is. In het Nederlands praten we van de progressieve vorm.

Hoe vorm je de present continuous?

De progressieve vorm bestaat uit het hulpwerkwoord to be (am/are/is) + het onvoltooid deelwoord van het hoofdwerkwoord(gevormd door aan de stam -ing toe te voegen):

Am / is / are werkwoord + -ing

Opgelet: wanneer je een werkwoord hebt dat eindigt op een –e, laat je de –e weg alvorens –ing toe te voegen.

Bijvoorbeeld:

To play------------------------------- I am playing

To write------------------------------- I am writing

Present continuous

1. aan te geven dat iets NU aan de gang is. Signaalwoorden zijn o.a: "now, at the moment, listen..." enz.

2. aan te geven dat je iets van plan bent. Meestal staat er bij wanneer je in de toekomst dat van plan bent.

3. irritatie aan te geven

Maak de present continuous door: vorm van 'to be' (am/is/are) + ww+ ing
