A 3D printer is a type of fabricating, industrial robot.
Unlike an ink-jet printer which can move only in two dimensions (2D), the parts on a 3D printer can move in three dimensions along three axes. (X, Y, & Z)
The 3D printer has an extruder which controls the feeding of the filament.
