What is an adjective and give an example?

Adjective

Adjective says something about a noun

Example:  She wrote a boring song​

Always use an adjective with the following verbs: taste, smell, look, sound and feel​

That sounds amazing

Spelling: study!!

What is an adverb and give an example?

Adverb

How something happens 

Examle: She plays her piano exceptionally​

Spelling adverbs​

Regular spelling > adjective + -ly​

Irregular spelling > Study RB!!​

Exceptions > always, still, never, ever etc.​

Place of adverb

- in front of an adjective, another adverb, head verb

- after the verb to be

- beginning of a sentence

Make a sentence using a comparison

Comparison

Comparative : - er achter de adjective ​

                               more voor de adjective

quicker/most popular than

Superlative : - est achter de adjective ​

                                     - most voor adjective

quickest/most popular than

Comparisons: Spelling

Één lettergreep

Small- smaller (than) - (the) smallest​

Twee lettergrepen op -le, -er, -ow, -y​

Clever – cleverer (than) - (the) cleverest​

Twee lettergrepen niet op -le, -er, -ow, -y​

Careful – more careful (than) - (the) most careful​

Drie of meer lettergrepen​

Terrible – more terrible (than) – (the) most terrible

Comparisons: exceptions

Good – better (than) – (the) best​

Bad – worse (than) – (the) worst​

Comparisons (not) as ... as

+ as .... As​

James is as big as Ben. (James is even groot als Ben)​

- not as .... as​

James is not as smart as Ben. (James is niet even slim als Ben)
