Lesson 20 The future

• Please sit down in your groups.
• Take out your Travel Project booklet.
• Do this before the time is up.

Goals

• You feel confident making short sentences using the future.
• You know the four ways in which you can describe or talk about the future.

Discovery

• Work on task 3B, exercise A.
• Work as a team.
• First, highlight the verbs used in the future tense
• Then look for similarities in the sentences to find a rule.
• 5 minutes

The future

Talking about what will happen soon.

(In a few seconds, a minute, a week, a year, etc...)

Turn towards the front of the room, turn your chair as well.

4 ways

• Present simple   ->   schedules
• Present continuous   ->   planned and likely to happen

• To be going to + verb   ->    plans made before a conversation, clues based prediction
• Will / Shall + verb   ->   spontaneous things in a conversation, opinion based prediction, facts
