How to prepare?

Most importantly: READ A LOT of English books

• try to guess the meaning of words you don't know
  from the context or the rest of the sentence
• look up words you still don't know (and write them down)
  
  

This will help you learn new words and understand a text better during the test.

How to prepare?

Watch movies/series with English subtitles to learn more words (the bigger your vocabulary, the easier it is to understand a text)

Take many practice tests.

Practice a lot to develop your reading skills.

How to 'do' a reading test

your test will be made up of multiple texts with one or more questions about each text.

What's the best way to 'do' this test?

Different ways of reading

• orientation / prediction
• skimming
• scanning
• detailed reading

What does this mean?

So that means...

1. Orientation / prediction
What kind of text is it and what is the text about?

look at the title, picture(s) and subheadings

2. Skim the text
only focus on the most important words or parts
read the 1st and last sentence of each paragraph

So that means...

3. Scan the text

Find specific information in the text 

(and skip the rest ;-)

4. Detailed reading

Read the entire text

What else can I do?

go to sleep early the night before so you're not tired

eat a healthy breakfast so you have energy and can focus

breathe deeply a couple of times to calm your nerves
