What are Cambridge looking for?
The Cambridge First for Schools Trainer give a checklist to follow after you have finished writing your story. It asks you if you have:

used a range of past tenses?
used descriptive adjectives and adverbs?
used a range to time words and expressions?
divided your story into paragraphs?
written 140-190 words?

Do governments need to regulate the fast-food industry?

  • State the topic clearly, give a brief outline of the topic, saying why it is important
  • DO NOT  express your opinion in the introduction
Body Paragraphs 1,2,3 (content points)
  • Start with a topic sentence which states the main idea of each paragraph.
  • Include relevant details to support the main idea.
  • DO NOT include your opinion in this part of the essay.
Conclusion
  • Try to connect the conclusion to what you said in the introduction (essay topic)
  • DO NOT introduce any new ideas in the conclusion
  • Sumarise what you have said in the essay
  • REMEMBER TO SAY WHETHER YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE.

Drafting and proofreading your work
You should look at your first draft of the task and decide:
  • Have you responded to the statement and the notes appropriately?
  • Is the essay organised in a clear and logical way?
  • Is the language accurate with a good range of structures?
  • Is the style OK?
  • Will it have a positive effect on the reader?
If the answer is 'no' to any of these questions then you will need to do some more drafting!
