A change in society.
  • There was more food because of the farmers who used irrigation.
  • So not eveyone had to be a farmer anymore.
  •  Craftsmen  specialised in other jobs, like carpenter, shoemaker or potter.
  • These craftsmen traded their products for food.
  • Some peolpe became so good at trading that they became merchants.

  • Merchants and craftsmen started to live together. And so villages grew into cities.
  • The cities were united under a government.
  • The head of the government was the pharaoh
  • The pharaoh had the task to make rules and laws, but he was also an important religious person.

  • The Egyptians believed in many gods, they were  polytheists. .
  • Gods took take of everything, so you wanted to be on their good side.
  • The Egyptians build temples to worship their many gods. 
  • Priest were believed to be the ones that were in contact with the gods.
