Comparing 2 things

• For short adjectives (1 syllable), add -er:

tall → taller 

fast → faster

• For long adjectives (2+ syllables), use more:

famous → more famous

expensive → more expensive

*Don’t forget: Use "than" when comparing 2 things.

Example: "This movie is longer than that one."

Let op!

Not all 1-syllable words get -er.

Example: 

• Fun - more fun (not funner)
• Real - more real (not realer)

This movie is __________ than the one we saw last week.

Comparing more than 2 things

 For short adjectives, add -est:

tall → tallest

fast → fastest

For long adjectives, use the most:

famous → the most famous

expensive → the most expensive

Don’t forget: Use "the" before the superlative!

Example: "This is the best concert I’ve ever seen."

But wait, there is more!!

Words that end in -y get -ier

example: Funny - Funnier

Irregular Adjectives

Some adjectives are irregular and don’t follow the rules:

good → better  → the best 

bad → worse → the worst

far → farther/further  → the farthest/furthest
