Present simple

gewoonte, regelmaat, feiten

ex: Five times five equals twenty-five.

The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. 

Don't worry, the bus comes every 20 minutes.

ex: He was in the army.

present perfect

begonnen in het verleden, is nu nog steeds bezig

ex: You've watched that movie many times before.

My assistant has copied the report for the meeting.

past perfect
