Past Perfect
De past perfect verwijst naar een tijd voorafgaand aan het nu. Het wordt gebruikt om duidelijk te maken dat de ene gebeurtenis plaatsvond voor de andere in het verleden, deze andere gebeurtenis staat dan vaak in de Past Simple. 

Je maakt de Past Perfect door: had + ed (regelmatige ww) & had + 2de vorm ww (onregelmatige ww)

Prepositions of time and place
In English we use 3 prepositions of time and place: in/on/at. 

Time: 
On is used for days and dates. --> We have soccer on Saturday.
In is used for months, years, seasons and parts of the day. --> We did our exams in 2010. 
At is used for specific times of day and holidays. --> Our school starts at 08:15.

Prepositions of time and place
Place: 
On is used for surfaces, public transport and roads/streets/rivers. --> The boat sailed on the river Themes. 
In is used for general places, cities/countries and things inside an area or space. --> We live in The Netherlands. 
At is used for specific locations or particular places. --> I will meet you at the trainstation.

Passive voice 
De passive voice (lijdende zin) wordt gebruikt als de focus ligt op de actie en niet op wie die actie ondernomen heeft. 

Wanneer je de zin van active (bedrijvend) naar passive brengt veranderd het voorwerp in het onderwerp. Een vorm van to be en het voltooid deelwoord wordt toegevoegd.

Active: I close the door. = Passive: the door is closed (by me) 
Active: I am reading the newspaper. = Passive: the newspaper is being read (by me). 

(by me) staat tussenhaakjes omdat je dit weg kunt laten uit de zin.
