- I can create a conditional sentence

Conditionals

Conditionals zijn voorwaardelijke zinnen: als ..... , dan ......

Een conditional sentence bestaat uit twee delen, een hoofdzin en een zinsdeel met if.

ZERO CONDITIONAL

If you drop an apple, it falls to the ground.

 Water turns into ice if you freeze water.

Hier: study

If the man takes another step,

1. The penguin will hug the man
2. The penguin will jump in the air

When the cat sees the dog,

1. The cat will jump on top of the dog.
2. The cat will scare the dog away.
3. The cat will run away.
4. The cat will lock the door.

FIRST CONDITIONAL

If/when the man takes another step, the penguin will attack him. 

If/when the toy cat starts waving, the cat will mimic it. 

If/when the door opens, the dogs will act like nothing happened.

If/when the cat sees the dog, the cat will lock the door.

SECOND CONDITIONAL

Second Conditional

Vorm: bij de second conditional gebruik je verschillende tijden in de twee zinsdelen. Bij if gebruik je de Past Simple en in het andere zinsdeel would + een werkwoord.

Gebruik: als het niet waarschijnlijk is dat iets gaat gebeuren, nu of in de toekomst.

If I were a boy ...

                            throw on what I wanted. 

If I were a boy, I would be a better man.

If I were a boy, I would listen to her.

If I were a boy, I would turn off my phone.

If I were a boy, I would put myself first.

SECOND CONDITIONAL

If I were you, I would tell her.

I would travel around the world if I won the lottery.

to talk about things that are unlikely to happen.
