Fasting lasts from sunrise to sunset. Children, as well as sick or very elderly people, do not have to fast. Some children participate for a few days to practice for later. After sunset, there is the Iftar. That is the Arabic word for 'meal.' Ramadan ends when the moon is completely full again. This is celebrated for three days with the Sugar Feast, or Eid el-Fitr in Arabic.
Many sweet treats are eaten to celebrate the end of Ramadan. People go to the mosque for the special Eid prayer. Families and friends invite each other to come and eat, and they wear their finest clothes.
