When to use present simple

Something short happens right now

Something is a habit

Something is a general truth

Something is a permanent situation

examples

Right now:                             The screen turns off

A habit:                                    I walk my dogs before my work

General truth:                      Water boils at 100 degrees (celcius)

Permanent situation:        I drive to work, I do not take the bus.

How to write something in present continuous?

'to be' + -ing form

(e.g. walking)

Make sure the form of 'to be' is the correct one

I am walking

You are walking

He/she/it is walking

We are walking

You are walking

They are walking

When to use present continuous?

Activities that are currently going on (longer than with the present simple) but has a clear end.

Something that keeps happening over and over

Examples
