Lesson 1: THE EYES

Slide 4 - Tekstslide

WHAT ENABLE US TO SEE THINGS AROUND US?

Slide 5 - Tekstslide

Our eyes are the sense organs for sight. They are very important because they enable us to see. They help you identify the characteristics of people, things and places around you.

Slide 6 - Tekstslide

Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to;
  • Identify the parts of the eyes

Slide 7 - Tekstslide

Parts of the eyes
Our eyes have both external and internal parts that work together even as each part has its specific functions.

Slide 8 - Tekstslide

External parts

the external part of the eyes include the eyelids, eyelashes, sclera, cornea, pupil and iris.

Slide 11 - Tekstslide

Eyelids
the eyelids serves to protect the front part of the eye.

Slide 12 - Tekstslide

Eyelashes
Protects the eyes by keeping dirt and and other stuff from entering your eyes.

Slide 13 - Tekstslide

Sclera
The sclera is the white part of your eyes. It serves as the protective coating of the eyes.
Sclera

Slide 14 - Tekstslide

Cornea
the cornea serves as the transparent covering of the eyes. it is the clear portion of your eyes that allows light to enter the eyes.

Slide 15 - Tekstslide

Pupil
The pupil serves as the opening where light enters. It is the small black part in the center of the eyeball.

Slide 16 - Tekstslide

Iris
the colored part of the eyes that surrounds the pupil. The muscles of the iris control how much light enters your eye.
The color of the iris may range from black to gray, brown, blue or green.

Slide 17 - Tekstslide

Internal parts of the eyes
the internal parts include the lens, retina, and optic nerve.

Slide 18 - Tekstslide

Lens
the lens focuses light and projects the image on the retina.

Slide 19 - Tekstslide

Retina
is the part found at the back of the eye. The retina is where the image that is seen is focused. The retina sends the signals to your brain through passageways called optic nerves.

Slide 20 - Tekstslide

Optic nerve
The optic nerve sends messages to the brain. Your brain then interprets these signals and processes the image of the object seen.
