The past simple maak je als volgt: 

Je zet een -ed achter het werkwoord bij regelmatige werkwoorden 

-Je zet een -d als de stam van het werkwoord al op een 'e' eindigt..

Tricky spelling: How do you spell the past tense of the following verbs (ww)?

Tricky Spelling! 

*Een werkwoord waar een medeklinker voor de y staat, verandert in -ied in de verleden tijd. 

1. My father worried if I would be home in time. 

(worry -> worried)

*Een werkwoord waar een klinker (a,e,o,i,u) voor de y staat, krijgt gewoon de -ed uitgang 

2. My sister stayed at an appartment last summer.

*Je zet altijd 'did' vooraan in de zin... (maakt niet uit of het nou: I,you,he,she,it,we,they is). Het hoofdwerkwoord laat je staan in de tegenwoordige tijd (zet je geen -ed achter!).
