Gerund

Smoking is bad for you

in Dutch: roken is slecht voor je.

to smoke = verb (werkwoord)

smoking = noun (zelfstandig naamwoord)

verb + ing = gerund

EXAMPLES

I love gaming (ik hou van gamen)                            gaming = gerund

She loves shopping (ze houdt van winkelen) shopping = gerund

learning can be fun (leren kan leuk zijn)             learning = gerund

Verb + ing

 a verb (werkwoord) + ing = noun (zelfstandig naamwoord)

We call this: the gerund

shop (verb) + ing = shopping (noun)               = gerund

game (verb) + ing = gaming                                  = gerund

eat (verb) + ing = eating                                            = gerund
