Adjectives = Bijvoeglijk naamwoord

- Zeggen iets over een zelfstandig naamwoord: 
   the careful driver, the angry teacher, a beautiful dress

- Soms heeft het bijvoeglijk naamwoord  twee vormen: 
   This job is boring / interesting / tiring / annoying (= over ding)

   a boring radio programme, a tiring exercise
   I am bored / interested / tired / annoyed (= over persoon)

   a bored child, a tired grandfather, an annoyed mum

Adverbs = Bijwoorden

- Bijwoorden
- Zeggen iets over werkwoorden, bijvoegelijke naamwoorden, 
  en andere bijwoorden (alles behalve zelfstandige naamwoorden)

    she drove carefully, it rained heavily, My brother is a tremendously careful driver,  incredibly quickly, a surprisingly easy task.

- Adverbs maak je meestal door -ly achter het bijvoeglijk naamwoord te 
   zetten  (quick > quickly, careful > carefully, let op happy > happily)

Uitzonderingen

- Je gebruikt ook adjectives (bijv. nw)  i.p.v. adverbs (bijwoorden) bij de volgende werkwoorden: 
   be /get/ grow/ seem/ feel / look / taste / sound / smell / turn/ become
   I am tired, she is hungry, you look tired, you smell nice

- Een aantal adverbs maak je niet met -ly: 
   good > well          the good (bijv. nw) dog, you did well (bijwoord)
   fast > fast             the fast (bijv. nw) car, he ran fast (bijwoord)                
   hard > hard          the hard  (bijv. nw) test, he tried hard    (bijwoord)
