Introductie

A series of lessons designed to help you teach your students about the differences they will experience as they move up to KS3 and secondary school. There are slides within the presentations that you can easily customise to make them relevent to your school and local area, meaning the information you share with your students will be as relevant to them as possible.

Instructies

Simply save the lesson to your personal or school folder on Lessonup, then open it within the editor to change whatever you need to!

The more personalised you can make it to your own students transitions, the more they will learn from it. Why not send it home for your students to do with their adults at home!

What Do I Enjoy About Y6?

Slide 3 - Woordweb

Ask pupils to think about all of their memories from Primary school. This is a great way to share some positive moments. Remember, if pupils add content which is unsuitable for sharing, this can be seen from the teacher's view before it is revealed to the group.

Consider removing pupil names from their contributions and ask pupils to guess 'who said what'?

Slide 4 - Poll

This should give teachers an indication of the mood of the group. Consider using this information after the session to feed into pastoral support for key pupils.

All information in LessonUp is GDPR compliant so you can be assured that pupil data will remain with you.
"You're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." β€” A.A. Milne
You should always let a trusted grown up know if you feel worried.

In our school, you can:
  • talk to your teacher
  • Write a note for the worry box
  • send a text to the school office

Consider amending this to suit your school/academy Safeguarding Policy.
Who Said It?
Let us remember: one book, one pen, one child and one teacher can change the world.
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think
When life gets you down, you know what you gotta do? Just keep swimming
Somewhere inside all of us is the power to change the world.

Slide 6 - Sleepvraag

This is a fun activity to remind pupils about some famous quotes about positivity. Consider displaying these around your classroom or returning to this slide across the term to consider what each quote means to your pupils.

What Skills and Talents Do You Have?

Slide 7 - Open vraag

This could be a pictorial, written or drawn activity. Pupils who are accessing the session via their own device might want to type directly into the lesson but you may consider uploading responses which have been drawn or even a photo of the pupil undertaking their 'talent'.

If you are choosing to share these slides as a flipped learning activity, you may receive some excellent contributions from home!

Which would you rather pet?

Slide 8 - Poll

These quick polls will add some humour and stimulate discussion across your class.

You can amend the pictures or question really easily to suit your class or context.

Consider choosing 'would you rathers' that link back to the school residential, for example.

Where would you rather visit?

"If my mind can conceive it, if my heart can believe it, then I can achieve it." β€” Muhammed Ali
It is always good to celebrate
the things that make us special.
It is also useful to look at some of
the things that we find a bit trickier.

Slide 12 - Tekstslide

At this point, you may wish to remind pupils about the Safeguarding slide at the start of the session.
What might we need to learn or practise
so that we are ready for Secondary School?

Slide 13 - Woordweb

Consider devoting some time to this slide to enable pupils to have the time and space to consider what they are really wanting to know.
You can adapt every slide within LessonUp to suit your school's context.

Aardappeloproer
1917
