The punic wars

Rome vs. Carthage

Punic derives from the Latin poenus and punicus, which were used mostly to refer to the Carthaginians and other western Phoenicians. In modern scholarship, the term 'Punic' is exclusively used to refer to Phoenicians in the Western Mediterranean.
