Writing strategies / before:

• Read the introduction to the task to get information about  what will be discussed = retrieving prior knowledge & key aspects.
• Read the questions and prompts + think about the kind of information you need for your essay, decide whether you agree or disagree etc
• Underline/copy key words you want to include. Jot down synonyms if you remember.
  
• Make an outline (to-do list of topics per paragraph, you want to include in chronological order).
• Add signal words and phrases to the outline.
  

Writing strategies / during:

• Use as many words you can from the assignment.
• Follow your outline.
• Use synonyms, descriptions if you do not remember the word.
  
• Avoid repetition.
• Use linkers and referencing.
  

Writing strategies / after:

• Read your essay, change any sentences that do not run properly.
• Check if you have included all aspects of the assignment.
• Check capitals and spelling.
  
• Check for repetition => change if necessary.
