Conjunctions

Conjunctions are words that join two parts of a sentence (two clauses) together.

"I will go travelling with my friends. I will get married."

"I will go travelling with my friends before I get married."

Unless

Unless – Clause 1 will happen, but not if Clause 2 happens.

”I’m due to start university in October unless COVID stops me.”

“I’ll study in Timor unless I receive a scholarship.”

Before

Before – Clause 1 happens previous to Clause 2

     “I’m going to brush my teeth before I go to bed.”

“I’m planning to buy a new motorbike before we go to Lospalos.”

Until

Until – Clause 1 will happen, and finish when Clause 2 happens.

”I going to live with my family until I get married.”

“I’ll stay at home until I feel better.”

When

When – Clause 1 will begin as Clause 2 begins.

”I’ll eat my dinner when I get home.”

“I’m going to visit my grandma when I visit my hometown.”
