Na de uitleg en oefening kan ik:

- het juiste voorzetsel (van tijd) in het Engels gebruiken.

IN gebruik je voor: eeuwen, jaren, maanden en langere tijdsperiodes

examples: in 2018, in June, in the past

ON gebruik je voor: dagen, data

examples: on Tuesday, on my birthday, on Christmas day

AT gebruik je voor: precieze tijden

examples: at 12 o'clock, at noon, at sunrise, at the moment

Uitzondering: at night, at the weekend, at Christmas

of place

     Prepositions of place

In deze lessonup worden de prepositions of place (voorzetsels van plaats) uitgelegd en zijn er een aantal oefenzinnen zodat je kunt controleren of je het hebt begrepen.

Voorzetsels van plaats worden ook wel

tafelwoorden, kastwoorden of kooiwoorden genoemd.

Where is the cat?
... the box

1. under
2. behind
3. opposite
4. above

       Prepositions of place

on gebruik je bij oppervlaktes (tafel) en openbaar vervoer (train).

Ook kun je on gebruiken voor data.

in gebruik je bij wegen, steden, landen en grote gebieden, ook gebruik je in voor afgesloten ruimtes (lokaal, huis, kartonnen doos).

at gebruik je bij huisnummers en (namen van) gebouwen (cinema/school/station).

close to / near = dicht bij, vlak bij

outside            = buiten

under               = onder

with                  =  bij / met

next to       = naast

behind       = achter

between    = tussen

in front of   = voor
