Als je een leestoets maakt gaat het om begrijpend lezen. Je moet een tekst lezen en vragen beantwoorden. Bijvoorbeeld bepaalde informatie opzoeken. Of uitleggen wat een schrijver bedoelt. 

Leesstrategieen kunnen je helpen

Look it up? Or not

• Je mag een woordenboek gebruiken bij het lezen . Maar... dat kost tijd. En heb je wel de juiste vertaling? Dus: wanneer gebruiken? Volg deze stapjes:

1. Heb je het woord nodig om de tekst te begrijpen? Nee?
   Sla het dan over. 
2. Heb je het woord wel nodig om de tekst te begrijpen? Ja?
   Probeer de betekenis te raden uit de tekst eromheen. 
   
3. Kom je er niet uit of twijfel je? Pak DAN PAS het woordenboek.

Do you need the word?

• Read this: 
  The pigglywiggly girl  was walking home when she saw a zowsy boy. She liked him very much!
• Which words do you need? Focus on verbs and nouns. girl, walk, saw, boy, like
• pigglywiggly and zowsy are nonsense words. You don't need them. And you don't need the small words like "him", "a".
• can you guess what zowsy means? Is it a positive thing or a negative one? Why?

Can you guess its meaning?

• lijkt het op een woord dat je al kent football
• zitten er onderdelen in die je al kent? housework
  als je het werkwoord "to know" kent, wat zou knowledge dan kunnen betekenen? En unknown?
• (kennis en onbekend)
• probeer het eens op de volgende dia's

The dog BAYS at the moon.
What does BAY mean?

1. howl
2. swim

She PENNED a long letter to her mother. Wat does PEN mean?

1. baked
2. wrote

When they woke up, they had to RUSH to school. Wat does RUSH mean?

1. hurry
2. jump

The animals eat grasses, flowers, plants and other VEGETATION.
What could vegetation mean?

T16 - History Repeating - What happened?
What is your history? when were you born, important events in your life?
Make a timeline of your life: write down the important years and things that happened. You start with your day of birth of course. Write about at least ten important events. Use the PAST SIMPLE.

Now get a dictionary  (or use google translate)

• which translation is correct? (welke vertaling klopt?)
• wat voor soort woord is het? 
  past het in de zin?

Reading strategies

Skimming: dit doe je om een snelle indruk te krijgen van een tekst. Kijk naar plaatjes, titel, soort tekst.

• Predict (voorspel): waar denk je dat het over gaat? Wat kun je verwachten?
• Activate: wat weet je er al van?
  

Scanning: dit doe je om snel informatie te vinden. Niet de hele tekst lezen, maar op zoek naar het antwoord van een vraag. 

• Keywords: wat welke woorden heb je echt nodig? 
• Context: kun je zien wat een (belangrijk) woord betekent als je kijkt naar de tekst eromheen?

• Rent strollers, wheelchairs or lockers for the day while supplies last.
• Use Disney’s FASTPASS service or plan on visiting popular attractions early in the day or later in the evening when wait times will be shorter. Plan your meals for non-peak times, such as between 11 a.m. and noon, between 2 pm and 4 pm, or after 8 pm, in order to experience shorter wait times.
• Visit the various shows, such as the Enchanted Tiki Room, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Innoventions, Muppets 3-D and Bug’s Life as these have shorter wait times than the attractions. 
  
• View fireworks from locations other than Main Street, U.S.A. Great viewing is available in the area of It’s a Small World in Fantasyland.
• If possible, do not leave the park immediately after the end of the fireworks show, as this is a popular time to exit. Take advantage of this time to enjoy one or more attractions before leaving the Resort. Consider upgrading your tickets to an Annual Passport so you don’t feel pressured to experience everything in one day.
