The Present Perfect Tense

Aims for this lesson:

• I can make affirmative sentences, questions and negations in the Present Perfect tense.
   
• I can recognise and use signal words belonging to the Present Perfect tense
  
  
• I can distinguish between the Present Perfect and the Past Simple

Try to find out the rule: how do we make the Present Perfect and when do we use it (try to be precise in your answer). Write it down. You may work in pairs.

My father has lived in Groningen for many years now.

She has never seen a cookery show before.

We haven't done our homework yet. We were playing a video game.

Has your brother just scored a goal? I wasn't paying attention.

- To give new information, reporting events that have just happened

- To talk about repeated actions 

- To talk about events that started in the past and still continue now or still have an effect

Present Perfect

Subject + have / has + past participle

--> infinitive + ed  (worked)

--> 3rd irregular verb choice 

                see - saw - seen

Try to find signal words for the Present Perfect. Words that show that it started in the past and still continues. Write them down. You may work in pairs.
