1. Write a summary (samenvatting)

Wat moet er in de samenvatting komen?

1. Wie komen er in het verhaal voor? --> Beschrijf de verschillende personages
2. Wat gebeurt er in het verhaal? --> Beschrijf kort de belangrijkste gebeurtenissen
3. Wanneer speelt het verhaal zich af? --> In welke tijd speelt het verhaal zich af? Bijvoorbeeld tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog of ver in de toekomst in het jaar 2150?
4. Waar speelt het verhaal zich af? --> In de ruimte? Op zee? Op één vaste plaats, bijvoorbeeld een huis van iemand?
5. Vertel of en waarom je dit boek wel of niet aan iemand zou aanraden

Example review: Charles Dickens – A Christmas Carol

With the holidays approaching, the sudden drop of temperatures, and the absences from school, it is a wonderful time to crack open a Christmassy book. With its age old tale, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is a perfect choice.

For the few that are unfamiliar with the story: Ebenezer Scrooge is an extremely wealthy, hardened, miserly, old man. He never smiles, he is begrudging about the use of coal to keep his employees warm, not to mention, he has no friends. For him, Christmas is just a day that fools and crazy people celebrate.

One night, as he is sitting in front of his small fire, a ghost of his old business partner Marley. Marley is burdened with chains, forced to wonder for all eternity and warns Scrooge that his fate will be the same if he does not mend his ways. A little scared, but not convinced, Scrooge ignores the warning and goes to bed. Throughout the night, he is visited by three ghosts: the ghost of Christmas Past, the ghost of Christmas present, and the ghost of Christmas yet to come. (Dickens refers to them as spirits, but they seem to be better known as ghosts in today’s culture.) They each take him on a journey.

A Christmas Carol is a heartwarming story to read at any time but especially over the holidays. It is a story for young and old. It is a constant reminder to have a giving and loving spirit.

2. Creative assignment

• The maximum amount of points is 64. Je cijfer wordt gebaseerd op de volgende punten: Your grade will be based on the following criteria: tekstlengte (4 pnt), hoofdletters en leestekens (4 pnt), grammatical (8 pnt), spelling (8 pnt), inhoud samenvatting (20 pnt) & inhoud creatieve opdracht (20 pnt).

1. SO - 20 MEI : Als SO1 lever je deel 1 in via Magister - ELO - Opdrachten. Je wordt beoordeeld en krijgt een cijfer voor deel 1 en krijgt feedback, zodat je het kan aanpassen voordat je de hele PO inlevert.
2. PO - 10 JUNI: Op 10 juni lever je de hele PO in op Magister - ELO - opdrachten. Hier krijg je een cijfer voor (weging 1x)

Book 1: White Death

What is it about?

Sarah Harland is nineteen, and she is in prison. At the airport, they find heroin in her bag. So, now she is waiting to go to court. If the court decides that it was her heroin, then she must die. She says she did not do it. But if she did not, who did? Only two people can help Sarah: her mother, and an old boyfriend who does not love her now. Can they work together? Can they find the real criminal before it is too late?

Book 2: Love or Money?

What is it about?

It is Molly Clarkson's fiftieth birthday. She is having a party. She is rich, but she is having a small party - only four people. Four people, however, who all need the same thing: they need her money. She will not give them the money, so they are waiting for her to die. And there are other people who are also waiting for her to die.

But one person can't wait. And so, on her fiftieth birthday, Molly Clarkson is going to die.
