What are signal words?

Signal words

Signal words are specific words that you can use to transition between the different ideas in your paper clearly and organically.

(also makes sure you don't start every sentence with I)

Adding Information:

Furthermore, Moreover, In addition, Additionally, Not to mention, as well as, First/second/third

Contrast: 

However, nevertheless, in spite of, even so, (un)fortunately, 

Examples:

for instance, such as

Cause & effect:

as a result, consequently, therefore, thus, that's why

Time/order:

eventually, initially,  earlier, meanwhile

Comparison:

as if, equally, likewise, similarly

Condition:

provided that, unless, if
