Word order: position of adverbs

Adverbs of time and place

- Komen aan het einde van de zin

vb: I have to charge my e-bike battery tonight.

Bij plaats en tijd in de zin, komt plaats voor tijd.

vb: Dad ordered a solar car from Germany last week. 

Adverbs of manner

Geven aan hoe iets gebeurt, zoals very/really/terribly:

- komen voor het woord waarvan ze iets zeggen, als dat woord een bijvoeglijk naamwoord (adjective) of bijwoord (adverb) is.

vb: I'm very angry with you. 

- Als het bijwoord iets zegt over een werkwoord komt het: aan het einde van de zin of voor het hoofdwerkwoord.

vb: Henry left the shop quietly.                                  

vb 2: We nervously waited for the train.

Nooit tussen een hoofdwerkwoord en een object!

Pay attention to the irregular adverbs: good vs well

Adverbs of frequency

Bijwoorden die aangeven hoe vaak iets voorkomt zoals always/never/usually/often komen:

- voor het hoofdwerkwoord:  I always walk to school. 

- na een vorm van to be: We are usually on time. 

Which one is correct?

1. I quietly did my homework
2. I did my homework quietly.
3. Quietly, I did my homework.

(never) I have been to Austria.

(terribly) I am sorry.
