Fire reporting procedures
Typical fire reporting procedures in a FEEP include:
  • Fire evacuation strategy – Plan for quickest routes to places of safety, away from premises or area of fire (assembly points)
  • Action on discovering a fire – raise alarm
  • Action on hearing the fire alarm – evacuate to safe area, don’t use lifts/escalators. May use fire wardens to help members of public
  • Calling the fire brigade – individual who discovers fire - immediate
  • Power/process isolation – in area of fire may need to close off power supply /fuel or certain areas of the Airport /Ramp
  • Identification of key escape routes – staff to be familiar with escape plan and stick to it.

Fire reporting procedures
  • Fire wardens/marshals – appointed by airport – trained in fire safety, role to oversee /help evacuation.
  • Places of assembly  – should be sign-posted, fire wardens oversee and are responsible for head count and instruction to go back in.
  • Fire fighting equipment provided – fire wardens trained to operate
  • Training required – specific to fire wardens and in general for full workforce. Fire Drills should be regular and staff should all know emergency evacuation plan.
  • Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan – PEEP – for staff /pax with disabilities or sensory impaired – a plan for how to evacuate in their specific circumstances.
  • Liaison with emergency services – keep emergency services familiar with the FEEP and update on regular basis e.g. fire service
