What are the risks?

What are the risks with sharing images online?

There are many risks associated with sharing images online, here are some important ones to remember:

• Personal or embarrassing images, that are shared, could lead to bullying, if they end up in the wrong hands.

• Unwanted pictures shared online could affect educational and job opportunities later in life.

•  Knowing that others have seen embarrassing images can cause stress and anxiety, and affect a child’s confidence and self-esteem.

• Once you have shared the image, you no longer have control over the image.

• You could be blackmailed with the images that you have shared.

• Images can also give people information,  that you may not want them to have.

Can we remove images completely, when they've been posted online?

The reason we can never fully delete an image when we've posted it online is because we don't know who has saved it or who it has been shared by. So it could be anywhere!
