Today I want to talk to you about the FCE Use of English that will be tested in the testweek (25th Jan.)

Let's talk about Part 4 - Key Word Transformation.

Key Word Transformation

AIM: rewriting the sentence without changing the meaning of the first sentence. 

- You are required to use the given word

- Use between 2 and 5 words. (no more)

- Names are repeated not replaced

- Contraction (I'd / aren't) counts as two words

- Tense stays the same

Key Word Transformation

Example:

The drive home was too long to complete that night.

SHORT

The drive home ...... to complete that night. 

Answer: WAS NOT SHORT ENOUGH

Key Word Transformation

Example:

 I used to find the noise of the city strange, but now I don't find it strange. 

USED

I used to find the noise of the city strange, but now I'm........

Answer: USED TO IT
