The essay is a written piece that is designed to present an idea, propose an argument, express the emotion or initiate the debate. It is a tool that is used to present writer's ideas in a non-fictional way.

Why write the introduction last?
A
You cannot write an introduction about something you haven't written yet
B
Write the introduction last will work better. It’s the job of an introduction to set the scene for what will follow.

It’s not possible to properly introduce a paper when you don’t really know where the essay's going to go.

By the time you finish writing the body of your paper, you can decide what you feel are the most important points of your argument.

  2. Now write supporting sentences -use an example or an anecdote 
  3. Analyse your argument or example   - give a one sentence conclusion

  2. Write down your thesis

  • A thesis statement is 1 complete sentence that expresses       your position 
  • A thesis statement always takes a stand and justifies furthur discussion 

every student should be required to take a gap year after high school to gain some life experience

4.Use Specific Words to "Paint Pictures"
Look at the following examples:

   • I went to the mailbox.               Boring!!
   • I ran to the mailbox.
   • I staggered to the mailbox.
   • I plodded to the mailbox.
*by using specific words, the writer paints a clear picture and does not have boring writing
walk or move unsteadily, as if about to fall.
slow-moving and unexciting.
