Goal: What's the difference 

 I am visiting my aunt tomorrow.

 I am going to visit my aunt tomorrow.

 I will visit my aunt tomorrow.

Future 1: Present Continuous	Future 2: to be going to
Future 3: Will	Future 4: Present Simple

Future 1: Present Continuous

Helemaal zeker, alles is al geregeld, hoe laat, met wie, alles is klaar: 

• I am visiting my aunt tomorrow. 
  She knows you're coming, so she's baking some goodies!
  
  
• She is painting her room next Thursday.
  It's agreed, she's taken time off.
  
  
• Are you doing anything tomorrow?
  Have things been agreed?
  

Future 2: to be going to + werkwoord

Something you can predict with a high degree of probability:

• It is going to rain soon!
  You see very dark clouds, can't miss!
  
  
• Look out! She is going to drop that cup of tea!
  Watch out, she falters!
  
  
• She is going to have a baby soon.
  She is very pregnant, will have a baby soon.

Future 2: to be going to + werkwoord

An existing plan or intention:

• I am going to visit my aunt tomorrow.
  You decided it. Your aunt doesn't know anything. Surprise!
  
  
• We are going to buy a new car soon.
  It's what we intend to do.

Future 2: to be going to + werkwoord

The past tense of this form (was/were + going to + verb) is used for failed plans:

We were going to visit my aunt, but she was out.

He was going to call his girlfriend, but he couldn’t find his phone.

Future 3: will + werkwoord

Simple facts. Note, in Dutch you usually use the present tense here:

• The sun will rise tomorrow.       
• Lunch break will be ten minutes longer today.
• All lessons will be canceled.

Future 3: will + werkwoord

Neutral statement. Or about things that you cannot predict with 100% certainty:

I will visit my aunt tomorrow.

It will rain tomorrow.

They will find a cure for this disease.

Future 3: will + werkwoord

If the sentence contains a condition that must be met first, use will + verb:

If you clean your room, I will bake a cake.

If you don’t do your homework, you will fail the test.

Future 3: will + werkwoord

You also use this form when you say something that you are going to do immediately, as soon as you think of it: 

 

The doorbell is ringing. I’ll answer it!

Oh, you look cold. I’ll make you a cup of tea.

I think I’ll send her an e-mail.

Agreed and arranged, she knows you are coming.

You intend to do this, she doesn't know anything yet.

You say you're going to do that, neutral.

I am visiting my aunt tomorrow.  

I am going to visit my aunt tomorrow.

I will visit my aunt tomorrow.

Future 4: Present Simple 

If something is scheduled at a certain time, which you usually have no influence on (schedules, meetings, departure times, etc.):

The ballet performance starts at 8:00 pm.

When does the meeting begin?

There is no need to hurry, the train doesn’t leave for another 30 minutes.
