• At the end of this lesson, the students can respond to a customer who needs assistants with the help of a written transcript.

What: Reading a situation and writing down our responses to the customer together in LessonUp

How: Write down your answers to the customer in LessonUp (You can also write it down extra in Word if you want to look at your sentences later).

Result: A written transcript for a speaking exercise.

Situation

You have your internship at the office of The Steam Bus Company in England. The company arranges days out for businesses. An employee of a supermarket in Manchester wants to plan a company outing and contacts you for the details.

A. The customer greets you and asks if you can help her.

B. Je groet haar terug en vraagt wat je kunt doen voor haar.

A. The customer asks if you can give her some information on the steam bus tours.

B. Je geeft aan van wel en vertelt dat de klant in augustus en september stoombussen kunt boeken voor 32 personen.

A. The customer asks if there are busses available for 35 people.

B. Je vertelt dat de bussen te klein zijn voor 35 personen en vraagt of dit een probleem is.

A. The customer tells you that she will ask her boss and asks if you can hold on for a moment.

B. Je vertelt dat je wel even kan blijven hangen.

A. The customer is back and tells you that is not a problem and that she would like to book a steambus for the 21st of August for 32 people.

B. Je geeft aan dat dit geen probleem is en herhaalt de afspraak om te laten weten dat je het begrepen hebt.

A. The customer thanks you and wishes you a good day.

B. Je geeft aan dat het geen probleem was en groet haar terug.

What are you going to do?

What: You are going to record yourself or in a group of 2. You are going to hold the conversation we just discussed in this lesson. If you are alone, you are B. If you are working in a group of 2, one is A and one is B.

How: Alone or in groups of 2.

Help: You can use the uitwerking in teams. 

Time: You have until next week, Wednesday, November the 9th.

Result: A recorded conversation between a customer and an employee.
