He was advised by a group of wise men called the Senate.

The last king: Lucius Tarquinius > Tyran

Lucius was banned by the senators who then founded a republic: state with no king.

Forum Romanum: place where the senators would discuss matters. 

No king, but two leaders called consuls. They would rule for 1 year.
