What is a passive sentence?

• The subject receives the action
• Example: The grizzly bear was caught (by the hunters).

How?

• Identify the Direct Object
• Determine verb tense
• Add subject from active sentence (if relevant) 

Verb tense

• Past or present?
• simple, perfect, continuous or future will
• Add to be form
• change verb to past participle if needed
• Example: She carried a box up the stairs ->
• A box was carried up the stairs (by her).

Let's try

• They sang a song. (active sentence)
• DO: (a) song
• Verb tense: past simple
• Passive sentence: A song was sung (by them) 

Make a passive sentence:
He bought new clothes.

Make a passive sentence
He buys new clothes.

Make a passive sentence
She is driving a new car.
